“My name’s Mary. I’m married to an amazing gentleman. His birthdays in April and I thought ‘oh well this would be a neat early birthday present.’ This is something that he never world have expected and I don’t know that I would have ever booked just because of my insecurities.”
As a boudoir photographer, I can say that this is a HUGE reason that lots of women are nervous about doing a boudoir photo shoot. As women we can be so hard on ourselves and often talk ourselves out of many experiences. I was so happy when Mary won our latest giveaway contest. We got to talk on the phone with those who were finalists in the contest, and her story stuck out to me. This is a woman who has gone through many surgeries in her past that left her with scars both emotionally and physically. At Bodyscape Budoir, my goal for all clients is to embrace those scars they have and allow me to help show how beautiful they are.
“She’s got a lot of scars from a lot of health issues over the years, and I’ve always told her that I still think she’s beautiful anyway…and now I’ve got the pictures to prove it.”
Mary’s husband Brad was beaming as he talked about his wife. Mary wanted to keep the photoshoot a surprise all the way until the end, so his face was PRICELESS. He had absolutely no clue that his wife would have ever done a boudoir experience! He went on to say:
“I just am really shocked and pleased that she did it. I can’t say that Ive ever asked her to let me take a bunch of pictures like that, but they turned out good. They looked real good.” Of course immediately after he said that everyone in the room couldn’t help but laugh. He was absolutely filled with love and pride talking about his wife.
“Definitely the biggest surprise I’ve ever received from her.”
“When I left here that day, I felt absolutely amazing. I felt beautiful.”
This is exactly why I love what I do. I believe that boudoir is so much more than a few sexy pictures. The experience itselves is empowering and allows for us to see ourselves in a different light. When we asked Mary what she would say to those on the fence about booking their own Bodyscape Boudoir experience, she said:
“I would tell them to do it, you know, because you’ll love yourself with it as well as your significant other enjoying it. Whether it’s a surprise or knowing that you’re going to do it.”
